Yaqoub Saeed Obituary, Death – On Wednesday, a student who was walking home from school died after being hit by a car that fled the scene on West Mountain. He was 15 years old. The boy was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Upper Paradise and Stone Church streets in Hamilton at approximately 2:55 p.m., which is only half an hour after the final bell rang in St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School, where both children were students. Hamilton police allege that another 15-year-old teenager was driving the vehicle that struck the boy.
“This is a complete and utter disaster, and it cannot be tolerated,” added Const. During a news conference that took place late on Wednesday evening, Krista-Lee Ernst made these remarks. According to Ernst, the juvenile driver was traveling north on Upper Paradise when he reportedly hit his classmate while he was parked at a side street.
The young victim sustained injuries that were potentially fatal, and he passed away in the hospital.
According to Ernst, the adolescent driver allegedly ran away from the scene, collided into another car (a white BMW SUV), and then tried to flee the scene on foot before being apprehended by authorities who arrived on the site. He is being charged of fleeing the scene of an accident that resulted in someone’s death.
It is not apparent how the young man was able to take control of the vehicle he was riding in. Ernst stated that the vehicle, the make and type of which she would not disclose, was not taken without permission. There is also a lack of clarity regarding the nature of the relationship between the two boys, as well as whether or not the driver intended to harm the victim.
I’m not going to get into the specifics of the inquiry because… Everything will be discussed in court,” Ernst stated earlier. “What I can tell is that there are multiple routes for this inquiry, and when more information comes in, further charges may be applicable,” the prosecutor explained. No additional potential suspects are being sought by the authorities at this time.
Investigators are requesting that anybody who were in the neighborhood at the time of the incident, including residents, business owners, and vehicles, review any surveillance or dashcam film that may be available and get in touch with the police. Ernst stated that the family of the young victim had been informed of the situation.
“I can only fathom the feelings that they are going through, and we want to make sure that the family gets their space while they are working through this,” said the reporter. “I can only image the emotions that they are going through.”
