William Roberts Obituary, Death – Mr. William Herbert “Junior” Roberts, Jr., of Meadows of Dan, passed away at his home in Meadows of Dan in a quiet and peaceful manner on January 15, 2023. He was 51 years old. The 10th of May, 1971 found him making his entrance into the world in Patrick County. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his much-loved dog, Hunter, as well as by his sister, Patricia Fain; maternal grandparents John Henry Gilley and Almarine Deal Gilley; paternal grandparents Elma R. Gilley and Jessie Herbert Roberts; stepfather William “Bybo” Gilley; maternal and paternal grandparents John Henry Gilley and Almarine Deal Gilley; and maternal stepfather. In addition, Mr. Roberts is survived by his sister, Patricia Fain He was an enthusiastic admirer of nature and had a wide range of interests in the great outdoors, including hunting, fishing, camping, four-wheeling, and riding dirt bikes.
In addition to that, he was a fan of powerful automobiles, namely muscle cars. For a good number of years, he worked for the Clark Gas & Oil Company as a technician. He was a wonderful husband, grandfather, and friend, and he was also a member of the Fairystone Church in addition to those roles. Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Cathy Knowles Roberts, who continues to reside at the family home; two step-children, Brian Knowles and his wife Shannon of Floyd, and David Knowles and his wife Alyssa of Meadows of Dan; four step-grandchildren, Connor, Caitlyn, Barrett, and Harper Knowles; his father and step-mother, William Herbert Roberts, Sr., and Linda Spencer Roberts; his mother, Annie Sue Gilley Overby
Funeral services for Mr. Roberts will be placed at Fairystone Church on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at one o’clock in the afternoon, and Pastor Barry Pilson and Pastor Kriss Foley will officiate the ceremony. Mr. Roberts passed away on January 16, 2022. The funeral and burial will be held at the cemetery that is owned and maintained by the Mountain View United Methodist Church. At the Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, guests are welcome to pay their respects to the departed on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., when the visitation will be held.
