Officers from the Sugar Land Police Department received a call just before 10 p.m. from nearby residents in the 1100 block of Oxford Mills reporting hearing gunshots, as indicated by the preliminary information provided by the department.

Residents who called the police to report hearing the shots said they were close by. When the police arrived, they discovered the body of a woman named Wendy Duan in the backyard of the house.
