Thomasena Marshall Obituary, Founder Of the Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival Has Died

Thomasena Marshall Obituary, Death – With great sadness in our heart we will like to iform you that Mrs. Thomasena Stokes Marshall had gone away, I was overcome with a sentiment that could be described as having equal parts of happiness and melancholy. This emotion lasted for the entire time that I was processing the news. When I first found out that Mrs. Thomasena Stokes Marshall had died away, I will never forget the moment that I found out the news. She was the very first person of African American descent to ever assume a place on the Town Council in that particular municipality of Mt. Pleasant, and as a result, she established a new standard there by virtue of the fact that she did so.

She was the first person of African American descent to ever assume a place on the Town Council in that particular municipality of Mt. Pleasant. She began working in this capacity in the year 1998, and she continued working in this capacity right up until the end of the calendar year 2015, when she officially retired from the role. It was the seventh day of the month at the time, which meant that the year was 231, and the day was the seventh of January. This day marked the beginning of Marshall’s adventure. In addition to this, she is the founder of the Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival, which is an annual event that celebrates a wide range of artistic fields and practices.

This festival is held in her hometown of Sweetgrass, Montana. Someone who ventured into unexplored regions and blazed a trail through unmapped landscapes so that those of us who came after them could follow in their footsteps. Given the precarious nature of the situation, we are praying for her family and the people in her life who are most dear to her at this time, as well as for herself. In addition, we pray for individuals who are being negatively impacted by the current situation.
