Sylvia Gundy Obituary, Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy first school social worker and counselor has died

Sylvia Gundy Obituary, Death –  The Academy conveys its deepest condolences to Sylvia Gundy’s family and friends on the occasion of her passing after learning of her illness. Ms. Gundy was the Academy’s very first social worker, and she also served as a counselor. Ms. Gundy was hired at the beginning of the 1996-1997 academic year, and she offered support, guidance, resources, and counseling to both students and their families. She took the helm of the PTA and made it her mission to get to know the Academy parents on an individual level. She will be remembered fondly for her wonderful work, her love of the Academy, students, and alumni, and her compassionate and gentle attitude.

She was a much-loved part of the St. Ignatius Loyola Academy Community and will be affectionately remembered for all of these things. In 2015, Ms. Gundy stepped down from her position at the Academy. The following are services for Ms. Gundy:

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Candlelight Funeral Home (1835 Frederick Rd, Catonsville) Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 17 at 10:00 AM at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (30 Melvin Ave, Catonsville). After the service, the burial will take place at Arbutus Memorial Park (1101 Sulfer Spring Rd, Baltimore 21227).
