Shirley Huber Obituary, 85-year-old Shirley Huber of Holgate Has Died

Shirley Huber Obituary, Death – On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the age of 85, Shirley A. Huber, who resided in Holgate, died away in the comfort of her own home. She was the daughter of Victor and Luella (Rabe) Rettig and was born on April 2nd, 1937. She was previously wed to Donald Huber, who is still alive today. Shirley was a devout follower of the Holgate congregation of St. John’s United Church of Christ. She spent a significant portion of her career at Campbell Soup Company. In addition, she held positions at Sager’s Bar and Grill in Holgate as well as General Motors Company.

Shirley was an animal enthusiast who took great pleasure in tending to her various pets, including her dogs, cats, and horses. She had a wide variety of collections, some of which included angels and carousel horses. In her earlier years, she competed in a touring bowling league alongside her sister and brother-in-law. During this time, she was an avid bowler. She enjoyed watching game shows, with Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and Family Feud being some of her favorites to watch.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Huber of Belen, New Mexico; her children, Cathy (Jeff) Nofziger of Wauseon, Michael Rettig of Holgate and Dawn (Cody) Boozer of Belen, New Mexico; her step-son, Tracy (Monica) Kruse of North Carolina; a family friend named Lynn Williams; and her grandchildren, James (Elizabeth) Flory of Fostoria, Steven Flory of New York, Vicki No In addition to her children, she is survived by her sister, Darlene (Larry) Hockman, who resides in Napoleon. Her parents, Victor and Luella Rettig, as well as her older brother, Ronald Rettig, passed away before she was born. On Monday, January 16, 2023, from 4 PM until 6 PM, there will be a memorial viewing held at St. John’s United Church of Christ (I-946 OH-108) in Holgate. On Tuesday, there will be memorial services held at the church, and there will be visitation for one hour prior to the start of the ceremonies. Her last resting place will be at the cemetery of the local church.
