Sam Fenech Obituary, Death – Sam Fenech, a well-known Top Doorslammer Racer who was injured in a top-end crash earlier today, passed away tonight, leaving the Australian drag racing community in a state of sadness.
Fenech was a member of the Maurice Fabietti Racing team at the time of the event. He was operating his just acquired black and yellow Camaro Doorslammer. His vehicle sped up to the top of the hill, exploded off the track, smashed through the barrier, and crashed into a platform housing a television camera.
Fenech was hurt throughout the encounter, and those hurts ultimately killed him. The injured TV cameraman and Fenech both received initial aid from the track’s medical staff, who were on the scene quickly. Preliminary reports suggest that the camera operator’s injuries are not very significant and that he is anticipated to make a full recovery, despite the fact that he was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for them there. A statement released by the Queensland Police eventually verified what the great majority of people had been thinking the entire time, while track staff treated Fenech inside the wreckage of his car.
“At this evening’s drag racing event at Willowbank, a deadly occurrence occurred that the police are looking into (January 7). Early reports said that the collision occurred just before seven o’clock when a car veered off the track and collided with a camera tower. This information was derived directly from the occurrence. Unfortunately, the single occupant of the car, the driver, passed away as a direct result of the wounds they received.
Despite being brought to Princess Alexandra Hospital with injuries, it wasn’t judged that the camera operator required emergency treatment. The Workplace Health and Safety department’s investigations are being supported by the Forensic Crash Unit.” The remaining portion of the meeting, which included a round of the Australian Top Fuel and Top Doorslammer Championships, had to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances and will now take place at a later time. In Pit Lane employees and members would want to express their deepest condolences to Sam Fenech’s family and friends in light of their tragic loss.
