Rod Kilvert Obituary, Death – We regret to inform you that Rod Kilvert, a shining example and driving force within the Liberal Democratic Party, has passed away. In spite of being diagnosed with cancer earlier in 2022, Rod continued to campaign for the Liberal Democrats and take an active interest in local affairs. Rod Kilvert served as a parish councillor in his hometown of Potterspury and as the Liberal Democrat Election Agent for South Northants.
Stewart Tolley, a fellow Lib Dem candidate in Deanshanger Ward, remarked, “Rod touched a lot of people’s lives.” I can honestly say, “I have never encountered somebody with so much commitment – who excelled the youngest of us in energy levels when it came to campaigning – and who also had a great heart.” Hazel Hewison, a local Lib Dem councillor, remembered him as “a brilliant campaigner and a legend.”
I looked of Rod as the fount of wisdom,” said Kate Nash, a local Lib Dem councillor. “He was always willing to pick up the phone and offer his knowledge. It seemed like Rod always had a few things going on at once, and he was especially vigilant about local politics, ready to call out dishonest or sloppy behavior wherever he saw it. An official Facebook post from the Potterspury Parish Council reads as follows: “Rod Kilvert served Potterspury as a much respected Parish Councillor for many years and was instrumental in numerous major improvement projects for the village, including the Skatepark and MUGA, the Outdoor Gym, and refurbishing Blackwell End & Meadow View Play Areas.”
A great man and son of the village,” remarked one Potterpury local. thank you very much for everything you’ve done for us, “our Rod”
Our deepest sympathies to Rod’s loved ones. The funeral will take place on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 1:15 p.m. at Crownhill Crematorium & Cemetery, Dansteed Way, Crownhill, Milton Keynes, MK8 0AH. Liberal Democrats who were close to Rod are encouraged to attend a memorial service.
