Robert Gierling Obituary, Death – Robert “Bob” Girling, Sr., who was 93 years old at the time of his death, died away peacefully in Modesto. His passing came without any known complications. The 3rd of February, 1926 finds Bob Girling being brought into the world in Portland, Oregon. His father was Barry, and his mother’s name was Catherine. During World War II, Bob served in the field artillery of the United States Army, which he joined in the year 1944. He was stationed in Europe. After the end of the war, Bob reenlisted in the military and served as a sergeant in the MPs in Korea before being released in 1947.
Bob was discharged from the military in 1947. After completing his time in the military, Bob looked for work and eventually settled in at General Motors, where he worked as a Production Supervisor for the following 30 years. Bob’s retirement years were spent engaging in activities that brought him delight, such as working on vintage autos and his yacht. Bob did not even take one single vacation during his entire life. Every day of the week, he would put forth his best effort at his job so that he could provide for his family. His tenacious persistence and profound dedication to his task will forever be remembered for its notoriety.
Bob is survived by his sons Harvey Girling (wife Cathy), Robert Girling Jr. (wife Carol), and Richard Girling, as well as his seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Harvey is married to Cathy, while Robert and Richard are both married to Carol. He will be sorely missed by everyone. Dorothy Girling, who had been married to Bob Girling for nearly 72 years, passed just a few days earlier than her husband.
