Rick Millward Obituary, Death – Richard “Dick” H. Millward, 85, of Middletown and Lavallette, New Jersey, died on Monday, December 28th, at Red Bank’s Riverview Medical Center. His parents were Harold B. Millward and Ina Louise (Tallamy) Millward. Richard “Dick” H. Millward served in the United States Navy. He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1953 and Delhi Community College in 1955 in Delhi, New York. On May 26, 1956, in Plainfield, New Jersey, he married Virginia R. Piltz. At the time, they’d been married for 64 years. Before retiring in the year 2000, he worked as a construction estimator for many organizations. He worked as a volunteer firefighter for the Old Village Fire Company in Middletown, New Jersey, for 65 years and was awarded a life member of the organization during that time.

He held a variety of positions with the organization, including Captain, President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. He was also a member of the Middletown Fire Relief Association. He served as an elder at Middletown Reformed Church for the majority of his 65 years as a member. Both of Richard’s parents died before he was born. His wife, Virginia “Jinny,” survives him, as do his sister, Ina Loiuse Jones of Fords, New Jersey, and his four children: Linda of Middletown, New Jersey; Richard J. and Minerva (Lugo) of Keyport, New Jersey; Russell of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania; and Jeffery and Lynda Reynolds of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In addition to his two grandkids, Abigail and Elizabeth Millward of Keyport, New Jersey, he is survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and a cousin.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, located at 115 Tindall Rd. in Middletown, New Jersey. At 8:00 p.m., a memorial service for firefighters will be place at the Pfleger Funeral Home. Fairview Cemetery in Middletown, New Jersey, will host a private funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to the Middletown Reformed Church, 121 Kings Highway, Middletown Township, NJ 07748 or the Old Village Fire Company, PO Box 111, Middletown, NJ 07748 in place of flowers.
