Rachel Burleson Obituary, Rachel Burleson of Belzoni Has Passed Away

Rachel Burleson Obituary, Death – On Thursday, January 19, 2023, at the age of 87, Rachel Cooksey Burleson of Belzoni passed away at her home, where she had resided for the majority of her life. On November 23, 1935, Rachel Cooksey made her debut in the world in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Her parents, Robert Lee Cooksey and Annie Bland Cooksey were parents. She tied the knot with Clinton Eugene Burleson in the year 1950, and the two of them proceeded to spend the following 55 years working alongside one another at a variety of Belzoni businesses. She and Clinton Eugene Burleson were married for 55 years.

Rachel was a person who enjoyed a variety of pastimes, including gambling, selling antiques, gardening, and yard work. She even used to be responsible for her own lawn maintenance, but she stopped doing it a few years ago. Rachel’s children and grandchildren were the most important things in her life, and she treasured them beyond everything else. During the time that she spent in Belzoni, she was actively involved in the life of the Eastside Baptist Church.

Rachel’s parents, husband, Clint Burleson, and daughter, Jimmie Burleson, all passed away before she did, as did her two brothers, Sammy Cooksey and Robert Cooksey, and her three sisters, Grace Cook, Ann Bordeaux, and Anita Butler. Additionally, Rachel’s two brothers, Sammy Cooksey, and Robert Cooksey, were married to each other. Additionally, Rachel’s two brothers, Sammy and Robert Cooksey, tied the knot with each other and became husband and wife.

Peggy Carpenter of Greenville, Patricia (T.A.) Tharp of Isola, and Teresa (Mike) Holloway of Belzoni are her three surviving daughters. She is also survived by three sisters: Flora Baugh of Brandon, Mary Baugh of Starkville, and Jessie Hood of Guntown. She leaves behind eleven grandchildren and a large number of great-grandchildren. The three women’s names are Peggy Carpenter, Patricia (T.A.) Tharp, and Teresa (Mike) Holloway.

On Monday, January 23, 2023, at ten o’clock in the morning, the burial services will be held at Greencrest Memorial Gardens in Belzoni. They will be presided over by the Reverend Wayne Kimbrough. The staff members of the Burton Funeral Home in Indianola have been given the responsibility of making the necessary arrangements.
