On January 1, 2023, he sadly lost his fight against brain cancer and passed away as a result of his illness. Please allow us to tell you a little bit about Peter’s time spent at Wests Cricket:
On November 16, 1985, Peter played his first game in the first-grade competition for Western Suburbs against Mosman. He is the number 513 player for West’s first-grade team. Peter, who was born in Wagga Wagga and hails from there to this day, is a tall left-arm orthodox bowler and a left-handed batter. He was chosen to play for the New South Wales Under 19s cricket team in 1984-85 to compete in the National Championships, and after he did so well, he was chosen to represent Australia Under 19s on tour in Sri Lanka in 1985.
He spent a number of years as a member of the New South Wales Sheffield Shield squad and participated in a significant number of matches for the New South Wales 2nd XI. From 1985–1986 to 1989–1990, he played in 59 first-grade matches, during which he collected 86 wickets at a rate of 25.85, with his best statistics being 6 for 56 against North Sydney. He batted in the lower order and drove in 401 runs while also making 20 catches.
Peter began his career as a dedicated public servant in 1988 when he joined the police force. He served honorably until 2021 when illness forced him to retire. Skylab was a great guy to have at the club. May he rest in peace knowing that he was a wonderful friend and teammate he lived life to the fullest and had a fantastic sense of humor.
