Paul Gledhill Obituary, Residence Of Los Angeles Paul Gledhill Has Sadly Passed Away

Paul Gledhill Obituary, Death –  Paul was born in the year 1941 and died on the 4th of december 2022, following a seven-year struggle with Alzheimer’s. His family was there to support him. Paul Gledhill was born in Los Angeles to Myrtle and James Gledhill and spent his 81 years devoted to family, career, and several hobbies.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Phil (Reilly) Gledhill, and his three children: Sue Melnick Martirano (Paul), Jeff Gledhill, and Jim Gledhill. Trevor Gledhill (Katie), Andrew Gledhill, Lily Gledhill, Greta Gledhill, and Rachel Gledhill are among his ten grandchildren. Kyle Melnick, Colin Melnick, Troy Melnick, Zach Martirano (Kaeley) Peyton, and Gabriel Martirano are his only grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Linda Sheaffer (John), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul was actively involved in the Arcadia community through athletics, church, and his various abilities, which he shared with everyone. He was known as a gentle giant, as well as a kind and fair man. He had a stellar career in the newspaper industry, beginning with the Los Angeles Times for 31 years and rising to the position of VP of Operations.

He retired as VP of Operations from the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Newspaper Association in 2008. In 2008, he returned to his native California, settling in Escondido, where he and Mary Phil enjoyed many new friends, their RV, and their growing family. For many years, Paul was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.

On Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 10 a.m., Mass will be held in his parish of San Rafael Catholic Church, 17252 Bernardo Center Dr, San Diego. Oceanside’s San Luis Rey Mission is where he was laid to rest. Gifts to Alzheimer’s, San Diego, or Labrador Rescue would be appreciated in place of flowers. The Los Angeles Times will publish it on January 8, 2023.
