Mickey James Obituary, Death – Mickey James, who died at the age of 53 and lived in Baxter, will be laid to rest on Friday, October 2 at 1 p.m. at the Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home’s Baxter Chapel. The family will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and commencing at 11 a.m. on Friday to greet friends. As officiants, Prophet Jerry Wallace and Dr. Joe Wiles will preside over the service. The interment will take place at the Maynard Cemetery in Cherry Hill, Tennessee, in DeKalb County. Mr. James died on September 28, 2020, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in the county of DeKalb. Ruby Jean Johnson married Clifton Royce. James was a small child when both of his parents died.
His brothers, Magdalene James, Milas “Mouse” James, and Eddie Ray James, died before him, as did his parents. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings. He supported himself by working as an independent mechanic. He was a regular attendee at Dillard’s Creek Community Church. He was passionate about fixing cars, about life, and about spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving family members include Halonna “Holly” Degroat James, his wife of 21 years (they wed on August 7, 1999, in Silver Point), their son Shay Becraft, both of Baxter; sisters Susie (Glenn) Dyer and Vicki (Bennie) Fields, both of Silver Point; brothers Roger Dale (Pat) James and Larry Wayne James, both of Silver Point; Lloyd Lee James, Timmy (Janice), and Frankie James, all of Cooke James Green and Megan Cook are considered to be good friends.
Pallbearers will include family members and close friends. As a result of COVID-19, measures of social separation will be implemented.
