Mary Kern Obituary, Longtime Resident Of Chapin Has Died

Mary Kern Obituary, Death – Mary Syrett Kern passed away on December 25, 2022, at the age of 94 years old. She was born on April 21, 1928 in Charleston, South Carolina, and she lived there until her death. Mary Syrett Kern was born on April 21st, 1928 in the city of Charleston, which is located in the state of South Carolina. Mary Syrett Kern had lived in Charleston for a significant portion of her life and had spent the entirety of her life there. She was the daughter of Madeline and William Syrett, who are both no longer with us. Madeline and William Syrett are no longer with us. She is the only member of her family to have made it this far.

Since then, none of her parents has made it to this day alive to see the present. Both her son Frederick Mark Kern and her brother Francis Gordon Syrett perished away prior to her passing away. They were both her children and she was their mother. At the period in question, she was the only member of her family that was still alive. She is survived by her children: her daughters Virginia Adele Kern of Matthews, North Carolina and Nan Kern Nicholson (James) of Jasper, Georgia; her son Joseph William Kern (Carolyn) of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; her granddaughter Madalyn Diane Kern of South Salt Lake, Utah; along with nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews; along with a very loving and connected extended family consisting of the Bowers, the Kern.

Mary was a very involved member of both the Chapin neighborhood association, which she served as president of, as well as the Mount Horeb church, which she attended for the duration of her life and was a member of for the majority of her life. Quilting was just one of Mary’s many hobbies, but it was one that she excelled at since she had an insatiable passion for the arts. Mary kept a positive attitude regardless of the difficulties that she was experiencing, and she demonstrated her affection for her family, friends, and neighbors through actions such as reaching out to them, sending greeting cards and decorations, preparing delectable snacks and thoughtful gifts, and hosting loving dinners for them all.
