Martha Johnson – Martha Sue Johnson, age 51, passed away on December 30, 2022, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota as the result of a medical emergency. Martha Sue Johnson was a resident of Rochester, Minnesota. Thelma and Robert Johnson welcomed their daughter Martha into the world on May 11, 1971, in the city of Rochester, New York. She spent her childhood in a number of different cities and towns, some of which include Dodge Center, Kasson, Dover, St. Charles, Eyota, and Rochester. She spent 15 years working for Ability Building Community as a driver, during which time she was extensively involved in and thoroughly enjoyed all of the organization’s meetings and unique activities.
Her grandparents, her parents, a sister, and three brothers all away before she was born. In addition to her two boys, Adam Heyer and Tyler Lynch, one daughter, Megan Johnson, and her long-term companion of 16 years, Bruce Wernecke, Martha is survived by two brothers and four sisters, as well as her surviving immediate family members. Martha was a woman who was beautiful on the inside as well as the outside, and a great number of people admired her. Her wit, charm, and kindness she showed to others will be sorely lost, but they will never be forgotten. Rafting down the Mississippi was Martha’s weekend activity of choice.
No matter how insignificant the circumstance, Martha was a loving mother who would not hesitate to go the extra mile to assist and support her children. The relationship that Martha felt with her lifelong friend was not just endearing but also tenacious. Growing up in such a huge and loving family was one of the highlights of life for Martha, who was the eleventh and final child. No one will ever be able to take the place of the woman whom we all had the opportunity to get to know and love; even in death, her memory serves to remind us all of how valuable even the smallest of moments can be, and we will remember her for all of eternity.
On Saturday, January 14th, from noon to 2 pm, in the main eating room of the Eagles Club in Rochester, there will be a Celebration of Life for a member who passed away recently.
In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Megan Johnson in support of Martha’s Children.
The family of Martha Johnson would like to express their gratitude to the personnel at St. Mary’s Hospital, Dibble Funeral Home, The Eagles Club, as well as her friends from Dunkin’ Donuts.
