Marilyn Skermont Obituary, Death – Skermont died in 2022. Francis and Madeline (Milucci) Trotta raised Marilyn. Locally educated. 1967 graduate T.R. Proctor. Education and Educational Psychology from SUNY Oneonta. She earned her NYS Teaching Certification in Elementary Education, Nursery, and K-6 grades and 30 Graduate Hours in Reading at SUNY Cortland/Utica. She taught in NY. She attended Utica College of Syracuse University to complete her math coursework, NYS teaching certification in math 7-9, and 24 graduate math hours. There, she did it. SUNY Cortland grad Marilyn. She holds a New York State SDA and 36 graduate hours (CAS). Marilyn divorced Paul Skermont and had a son. Remarried Marilyn.
From 2006-2009, Marilyn was Utica’s first female superintendent. She’s a kind communicator and mediator. She advised the Board of Education and made personnel choices with good judgment. She enjoyed students, teachers, principals, and administrators. Marilyn wrote funding applications for the Utica Rescue Mission after retirement. She helped kids and vets.
“Dollys” were Marilyn’s relatives. She prioritized Kelly. She loved talking to Adrienne and Francine on the phone. Them. The family was missing. Her garden was envious. She enjoyed giving gifts. She’s a Raiders fan. She wanted more Hallmark movies. She admired the Utica Zonta Club. Never skipped breakfast. Club president. St. Denis is mom’s son. He showered her with constant affection. “Greggy” watched athletics.
Marilyn’s great-niece Megan penned a memorial: “On December 22, the world’s best angel died. Young Marilyn died. She’s honest. I helped because of her selflessness. My middle school principal loved helping youngsters. Even when offended, she never judged or condemned others. Unconditional love. My makeup and photos were praised. She liked this year’s eyebrow drawing experiment. She helped this year. Her tales are captivating. Without conditions. My heart’s empty since Mom died. We’ll honor her. Her pure heart helped God’s heavenly army “less Marilyn was loving. God granted her the humility to listen, help, and inspire. She never lost faith. Old St. John’s.
Kelly Skermont, Greg, Adrienne, Francine, Dominick, and Joseph Trotta remember Marilyn. Marilyn’s descendants are Kelly and Greg. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews; cousins; in-laws Anita and Helen Trotta; lifetime friends Francis Komiak, Carla Percia, Bernadette Kapps, and Diane Fortugno Skermont; and longstanding coworkers. (2015) Died. The dogs will miss Marilyn. She had loyal dogs. Her longtime doctor treated her in the ICU at MVHS-St. Elizabeth. The family praises the MVHS ICU staff.
