Marilyn Rodkey Obituary, Death – At the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, Marilyn Rodkey, age 79, from Longwell Road, died away in a calm and serene manner on Friday, January 6, 2023. On July 13, 1943, he was born in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Hovel Franks and Era (Phillips) Lee. His parents have now passed away. She first obtained her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from BOCES after graduating from Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. Oak Hill Academy is located in Virginia. After working as a nurse for Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital for many years, she eventually retired and began working for Walter Taylor as a private care nurse.
Both the Red Hat Society and Harvest Baptist Church counted Marylyn as a member at one point. She was a passionate gardener, loved to bake, and enjoyed teaching pottery in her spare time.
Marylyn is survived by her sons Kirk (Candy) Dinger of Penn Yan, Christopher James Dinger of Reading, PA, Eric Dinger of Geneva, and Luke Dinger of Savona; her daughter Shelly Marie Dinger-Mertz of Pottstown, PA; her grandchildren Jason Dinger-Mertz of Downingtown, PA, Abbigayle (Julian) Pellegrini, and CJ Dinger of Reading, PA; and her great-grandchildren Aiden Her parents had passed away before she was born.
On Monday, January 23, 2023 at 12:00 p.m., a Memorial Service will be place at Harvest Baptist Church, which is located at 7568 NY-54, Bath, New York 14810, and Pastor Alan Lindmark will preside over the event. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Finger Lakes SPCA, which is located at 72 Cameron Street, Bath, New York 14810, if anyone is interested. It is an honor for the Bishop & DeSanto Funeral Home in Hammondsport, located at 35 Main Street, to assist the family of Marylyn in making the necessary preparations.
