 Margaret Cobbs Obituary, Death – Mrs. Margaret Lee Crews Cobbs, who resided at 178 Northwest Blvd. in Danville, Virginia, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 14, 2023. She was 93 years old. She was born on September 2, 1929, in Halifax County, Virginia, to the late Johnnie E. Crews and Lillian Marable Crews. Both of her parents have since passed away. She was a widow after her husband, Andrew Cobbs, passed away before her. She was bereft of a son by the name of Stanley Thomas, as well as two daughters by the names of Billy Jean Cobbs Thomas and Cornelia Diane Cobbs. Additionally, she was bereft of four brothers by the names of Willie E., Johnnie C., Frissell, and Gussie L., as well as three sisters by the names of Mary B. Edmonds, Rosa C. Jennings, and Nannie F. Crews.

In addition to her passing, she was predeceased by her husband, Gussie L. Cobbs. She attended the New Arbor Baptist Church in South Boston, Virginia, where she was a member. She was employed by Eastern Medical Group in New York, which had its headquarters in the metropolitan area of the state. She is survived by one sister, Lillian J. Strange of Danville, Virginia; two sons, Donald Crews and Ricky Cobbs, both of Danville, Virginia, and their wives Deloris and Teresa; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a large number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Her memories will be cherished by all of them.

The funeral home chapel of Howerton Funeral Home will be the location of visitation on Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at New Arbor Baptist Church on Friday, January 20, 2023, at one o’clock in the afternoon, with Reverend Nelson Stamps serving as the eulogist. The date and time of the services have not yet been determined. Following the conclusion of the funeral service, the body will be interred in the church cemetery. Customers are required to wear masks before receiving any service. The family of Cobbs and Crews is receiving assistance from Howerton Funeral Home at this time.
