Lloyd Gilbert Obituary, Death – John and Isabelle (Kern) Gilbert had LG on October 18, 1955. LG attended Hobart High School in 1973. During FFA, he fell in love with showring. LG fit show cattle for competitions and sales nationwide. He worked at several local ranches after graduating from Cameron University. His love for Hinton resident Vickie Tucker rivaled his love for showing. Vickie married him in 1975. LG worked at the OSU dairy and the couple studied in Stillwater, OK, where they married. LG earned a BS in Agricultural Education in 1977.
He taught agriculture at Navaho School in 1977–1978. LG and Vickie returned to Hinton/Sickles in 1978 and had son John Tucker Gilbert in 1978 and daughter Amy DeAnn Gilbert in 1981. He then managed Mid Oklahoma COOP’s Okarche location. He was Hydro COOP’s General Manager until 2012. LG and Vickie’s journeys were full of ups and downs, laughter and tears, but they persevered.
He taught John and Amy the best agricultural practices. The family traveled the country to stock shows and other events, working hard and playing harder. He supported his children and grandchildren in everything. LG showed them that love and hard work could overcome any obstacle. LG taught the family to work hard and persevere. He left a legacy of love, humor, and determination that has helped his children and grandchildren reach any goal.

Brittany and Kyle had a beautiful granddaughter, Sutton Parks. LG led the Limousin community. The Oklahoma Limousin Breed Association Board included him. He admired and supported the FFA, which shaped his life and that of his children and grandchildren. He liked taking kids to stock shows, speech contests, and judging contests and helping them.
For years, he led the Hydro Eakly FFA Booster Club. LG always helped. He sang all the girls’ silly songs as a bus driver. He judged or coached speech and creed. He always ensured fairness. In 2000 and 2009, Hydro-Eakly awarded him Honorary Chapter and State FFA Degrees. OSU awarded the first Gilbert Family Endowed Agricultural Scholarship in 2022 to promising agricultural leaders.
