Laycie Chambers Obituary, Death – Laycie Chambers has died following the car accident that occurred on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 on U.S. 35 southeast of Muncie, Indiana while coming from school. Laycie was a member of Mack & More Bull Riders, Fighters, and Barrels. According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 3:30 in the afternoon, officers were dispatched to the location of a car accident that occurred on the federal highway close to where it intersects Delaware County Road 650-S.
According to Chief Deputy Jeff Stanley of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, a Chrysler Town & Country minivan driven by a minor pulled out into the path of a southbound Ram pickup truck heading on U.S. 35 as the driver of the minivan was traveling west on County Road 650-S. According to Stanley, the vehicle collided with the minivan on the passenger side as it was traveling down the road. The minivan was thrown 165 feet as a direct result of the impact, although the truck was only thrown 55 feet before coming to rest on its roof.
Two of the three children from Delaware County who were riding in the van were airlifted to hospitals in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne in separate emergency helicopters. An ambulance took the third young person and the driver of the vehicle, a man from Mooreland, to the IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital immediately after the accident occurred. U.S. Route 35 was closed to traffic after the accident that occurred there. The investigation was being carried out by the sheriff’s office’s crash team at the time. In addition to firefighters, police officers, emergency medical technicians, and even a helicopter, law enforcement authorities were joined at the scene by personnel from other agencies.
