Lawrence Matney Obituary, Death – Lawrence E. “Larry” Matney, 85 years old, fell dead suddenly at his home on Wednesday morning, January 4, 2023. His death was unexpected. He was the son of Ralph and Annabelle (Stair) Matney and went to Summitville High School. He was born in Anderson on December 11th, 1937. His parents were Ralph and Annabelle. On the 9th of May in 1970, he tied the knot with Deloris J. Malone. He spent the better part of four decades working at RCA and Thomson Electronics. Larry was a sports fanatic who had a passion for golf, woodworking, and sports in general, particularly the Colts and the Pacers.
Survived with seven children, including Anna Young (husband, Jerry), Linda Swango (husband, Daniel), Joan Matney, Sheila Matney, Jeff Matney (wife, Michelle), Patsy Cash (husband, Jeff), and Chris Matney (wife, Teresa); several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Diane Smith and Mary Lou Ice; and one brother, Bart Matney. Also surviving are a number of great-great-grandchildren (wife, Laura).
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife of over 52 years, Deloris J. Matney, on December 17, 2022; one daughter, Nannette (Matney) Chambers; step-daughter, Joni Miller; two grandsons, Jason Gates and Shawn Snyder; and one brother, Jim Matney. He is survived by one daughter, Nannette (Matney) Chambers; step-daughter, Joni Miller; two grandsons, Jason Gates and Shawn Snyder On Monday, January 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., Funeral Services will be held at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor Steve Graves officiating. After the service, the burial will take place at Elm Ridge Cemetery. On Monday, January 9, 2023, the Washington Street Chapel of The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory will be open from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. for visitation by family and friends of the deceased.
