Larry Holder Obituary, Death – Larry was a man who was involved in a wide variety of activities and interests. His parents, Miles Leonard and Laura Holder, gave birth to him. He was the eldest of the three kids in the family. Reggie, Larry, and Lisa are Larry’s three children from a previous marriage, and all of them currently reside in Georgia. After working at UL with the farm animals, Larry moved on to a career as an iron worker, during which he constructed high-rise buildings in Florida and other states. After some time, he attended a school for building wooden boats in Maine, where he eventually graduated with a halo over his head. A few days before he was scheduled to graduate, he shattered his neck after falling down into a rough beach.
Canoeing along the Swanee River and other rivers was one of his favorite things to do, both with his friends and on his lonesome. His goal was to make the Pacific Northwest his home, and he finally made the move in 2003. He was employed in CTC welding for a period of several years. He developed an interest in bonsai plants in addition to his many other interests, and he cherished time spent in nature. Fishing and being on the water were two of his all-time favorite activities and sources of fond memories. Together with his cousin Ralph, he has a lot of interesting fishing stories to relate. It was one of his favorite things to do, especially at his home, where the hummingbirds would approach him.
His mother and father, his sister Linda and brother Art, his son Reggie, and one of his grandchildren all before him in death; however, he is survived by his children Larry and Lisa as well as his longtime companion Mona Gerig and her family, all of whom loved him very much. On Sunday at 12:30 p.m., there will be a modest memorial and the sprinkling of ash at the top of Mary’s Peak, and afterwards there will be a potluck at the Philomath City Park. The service will be presided over by Matt Gordon, who is a member of Corvallis First Christian.
