Juan Elmore Obituary, Death – John L. Elmore, Jr. John L. Elmore, 71 years old, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 14, 2021. On January 26, 1950, he was welcomed into the world in Nassau County, New York, by his parents, Rush and Valerie (Liptay) Elmore. He was a dedicated soldier who had served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Before taking early retirement in 2001, John worked for Golden Valley Electric in Healy, Alaska, as an equipment operator for a number of years. He wed the woman formerly known as Joyce Harkema on December 14th, 1985, in the state of Alaska. Joyce was originally from Muskegon.
They settled there and built a home as well as a bed and breakfast of their own. They had a wonderful time together while traveling, but in the end, they decided to head back to their home in Muskegon, Michigan. They spent the winters in Florida, where they entertained themselves by racing boats or playing cards with their friends. They spent their time there. John was completely consumed by his collection of remote control devices. You could always find him in the process of creating and inventing new gizmos and gadgets. Testing out his ideas in Florida, where he had what he called his “glorified sandbox,” was a lot of fun for him. He was a man of many talents who was always engaged in the pursuit of fresh opportunities. He had a kind and outgoing personality, and he got along well with everyone.
Everyone who knew John will grievously miss having him around. His adoring wife, Joyce Elmore, his daughter Misty White, her three children, his sisters Denise Benson and Dirdra Gervios, and a large number of wonderful friends all go on after his passing. His mother and father, along with his brother Rush Hone II and sister Darrel Burrows, all passed away before he was born. There will be a funeral service for the family only. In lieu of sending flowers, memorial contributions can be given in John’s name to the Department of Veterans Affairs of the United States of America. The arrangements have been taken care of by Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, which can be found at 6291 S. Harvey St. in Norton Shores, Michigan 49444.
