John Daugherty Obituary, Death – John J. Daugherty, who resided in Elk River, Minnesota, and was 71 years old at the time of his untimely death on January 9, 2023, passed away unexpectedly. In the year 1951, on December 21st, he came into the world in the city of Ames, Iowa. In 1970, he graduated from Mankato High School with a diploma, and the following year, he attended Mankato State University to pursue more study and ultimately acquire a bachelor’s degree. Marilee McNally, who had been his high school sweetheart and was originally from Mankato, ended up becoming his wife in 1973. They welcomed into the world a son who they named Jay and a daughter who they named Joni.
He worked in the school industry as an administrative assistant for 35 of those years while he was employed outside the home. You could always find him on a baseball or basketball court, where he was either engaging in one of his favorite pastimes or training others. This was true whenever he had some spare time. After he retired, he divided his time between spending time with his five grandchildren and going out on the golf course, which is where he discovered his love for the sport. You might come upon him engaged in one of these activities. He made an indelible mark on each and every person he spoke to and interacted with. He is well-liked, and his absence will be felt by many.
He is survived by his loving wife Marilee (McNally) Daugherty; his son Jay (Aaron) Daugherty; his daughter Joni (Daugherty) Grandia; his grandchildren Arianna, Alyssa, and Jax Daugherty, Paige, and Payton Grandia; his brother Ronald Daugherty; his brother-in-law William Lafavor; and a large number of nieces and nephews. His grandparents, Donald and Neva Daugherty, as well as his parents, Donald and Neva Daugherty, as well as his sisters Donna (Art) Swanson and Carol Lafavor, and his brother Dave (Valerie) Daugherty all passed away before he did. There will be a gathering to celebrate John’s life on the afternoon of Sunday, January 22, at one o’clock, and it will take place at The Buff, which can be found at 16722 198th Ave., Big Lake, Minnesota 55309.
