Joe Fairrie, can’t believe you’ve gone, mate. It’s been more years than I care to remember since the first time we met, but it was at the Menin Gate. We were there with the Royal British Legion Riders Branch, and you were there with the Badlanders Motorcycle Club. You and the Badlanders were responsible for the creation of something truly remarkable when you hosted the South Shields Armed Forces Day at Bents Park. You invited the Riders to have a stand at the event on the very first year and have done so every year since then. As a result, we have been able to raise a significant amount of money for the Poppy Appeal over the course of these many years.
The amount of money that you and the Badlanders have raised over the years at this event is simply amazing, and the fact that you continue to support veterans is a remarkable legacy. You have left a positive imprint on this world by contributing to the greater good. Our sincerest condolences go out to Carol and her family, as well as to you and your Badlanders family. Ride free, brother, you will be remembered as one of the people who stood up for what was right.
