Joan Campbel Obituary, Death – On January 7, 2023, Joan Bradford Campbell, also known as Joan Felton Bradford, passed away due to age-related causes at the age of 99. On March 17, 1923, Joan Bradford came into the world in New York City to her parents, Margaret and Russel Lee Bradford. After earning her diploma from The Brearley School, Joan enrolled in classes at The Academy of Dramatic Arts in Boston, which is located in the state of Massachusetts. In 1944, she tied the knot with navy pilot Jean Henri Dourif, and the couple went on to have four children. After Dourif passed away in 1953, Joan wed William C. Campbell, a well-known amateur golfer from Huntington, West Virginia. William C. Campbell was an avid golfer.
Joan was famous for her breathtaking beauty, as well as her intelligence, humor, charisma, and fervor. Through her involvement in community-based initiatives and stage productions in Huntington and later Hobe Sound, Joan had the ambition of making a positive impact on the lives of others. Joan was the first person to launch a television discussion program called “Coffee Hour,” and she used her theatrical talent in unanticipated contexts, such as making appearances in organizations that provide social welfare. During the course of her life, she worked as a crisis counselor for suicide hotlines, raised money for museums and scholarships, promoted literacy, and served as a “go to” person for a wide variety of people.
As a voracious reader, a tough competitor in sports, and a worthy bridge opponent, she met all challenges with grace, creativity, and unbending resolve. She was adamant in her conviction that she was capable of accomplishing anything she set her mind to, and she repeatedly demonstrated that this conviction was well founded. Everyone who knew her was motivated by the unyielding resolve and positive attitude she exuded at all times. As a youngster who grew up during both the Great Depression and World War II, Joan exemplified the characteristics of what has become known as the “Greatest Generation.”
Joan is survived by her six children, Diana Dourif Cole, Patricia Dourif Amenta, Bradford Claude Dourif, Christiane Dourif, Victoria Campbell Collins, and Colin Cammack Campbell, as well as 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In addition, Joan has 11 great grandchildren and 15 grandchildren. Donations made in memory of Joan can be sent to The Lewisburg Foundation, which is located at P.O. Box 1755 in Lewisburg, West Virginia 24901, USA.
