Jim Foggitt Obituary, Death – The terrible news of the passing of our longtime friend Jim Foggitt, who was devoted to the sport of squash and served as an ambassador for the sport all across the North-West, has caused England Squash to feel a profound sense of loss. Jim Foggitt was a squash ambassador for the Northwest and was instrumental in the development of the sport during his time in the region.
Jim was responsible for the administration of the sport, had a substantial impact on the evolution of the sport, and worked closely with us as a member of the North-West Regional Forum. He also had accountability for the sport’s overall progression. He was the individual who was in charge of instructing tens of thousands of young players over the entirety of Merseyside on how to play the game. We are going to miss him enormously, and in this difficult time, our thoughts are with his family and the other people in his life who were dear to him. We are going to miss him tremendously.
Carlow Squash and Merseyside Squash have been trading players ever since Jim Foggitt established the practice at a tournament that was held in London a good number of years ago. The city of London played host to the competition. Throughout the years, we must have driven several hundred young people to and from the entertainment that was conducted on Saturday nights in the bar at Carlow LTC, and we had a fantastic time doing so.
Especially at those moments, we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves. The children of Liverpool and Carlow collaborated to put on a spectacle that was not only outstanding but also totally unmatched in its originality. Jim exemplified every quality that is associated with the term “gentleman.” You are not going to be overlooked at any point in time. You are deserving of all the good things that the gods have to offer.
