Huu Tran Obituary, Death – According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the suspect in the shooting that took place in Monterey Park has shot and killed himself inside the van that was the subject of an armed standoff with Torrance police on Hawthorne and Sepulveda Boulevards, close to the Del Amo Mall.

The van was located on Hawthorne and Sepulveda Boulevards. An update included this information in its dissemination. On Sunday evening, the suspect, identified as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran, was confirmed to be the murderer by the Sheriff of Los Angeles County, Robert Luna. It was approximately 10:22 p.m. when officers from the Monterey Park police department responded to a call of “shots fired” at a dance studio on the 100 block of West Garvey Avenue in Monterey Park, according to the authorities.

At approximately 11:00 in the morning, the Torrance Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department initiated a joint operation to conduct a perimeter search around a vehicle of interest. After the police had encircled the vehicle at approximately 12:40 in the afternoon, members of a Special Weapons and Tactics squad performed a search of the interior of the vehicle.

According to Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna, there were ten people shot at the scene of the incident, five men and five women died at the scene, and at least ten wounded people were transported to nearby hospitals, where their conditions ranged from stable to critical.

Among the critically injured was one person who was shot in the head. The motive behind the shooting rampage has not been identified at this time.
