George Mccormack Obituary, Death – Mr. George P. McCormack, 93, formerly of Brighton, died on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at home, surrounded by his family. George McCormack was born in Brighton on July 24, 1929, the son of the late Bernard and Marguerite (Murphy) McCormack. He attended Brighton High School before joining the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Following his discharge from the service, he worked in Watertown for Hood Rubber Company and Doble Engineering.
George was a parishioner of the former Our Lady of Presentation Church in Brighton before to its demise. He was a music enthusiast whose talent was acknowledged and appreciated by the community. With his singing voice, he enjoyed entertaining people at church and elsewhere. He also enjoyed woodworking and spent several summers on Cape Cod. He was a member of the Brighton Center Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus in his formative years.
His wife, Mary Lou (Carey) McCormack, and son, the late Michael McCormack, are with him in Heaven, as are his siblings, John, Bernard, Robert, Joseph, Francis McCormack, and Anne Cotter. Marianne Cusano (Allen) of Hampton, New Hampshire, Kathleen Amaral of Seekonk, Maureen Herrick of Newton, Tricia McCormack (Bryan Macnie) of Newton, Mimi Gunning (Joe) of Holliston, and Ellen Kelly (Jim) of Ashland survive him, as do several nieces, nephews, and their families.
On Friday, January 13th, from 4 to 8 p.m., and again at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, George’s family and friends will gather at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, before leaving in procession to Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 43 Holton Street, Allston, where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. The funeral will be held privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
