George Irwin Obituary, Death– During the course of the holiday season, a member of the DMS family passed away. It is with the deepest regret that we share this news with you at this time of year because it occurred during the holiday season.
On December 28, 2022, George Irwin passed away, a day after spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at home with his loving family. He had been sick for some time. It had been some time since he had been in good health.
Throughout the years leading up to his retirement in 2013, George was an employee in our shop as well as our warehousing facilities. In 2013, George made the decision to formally quit his work. During the time that he was employed there, he was responsible for the packaging of customer orders in addition to the prefabrication of various machines, tools, and other types of equipment.
Because he not only enjoyed developing and producing race cars but also competing in them, it was clear that he took a great deal of pride in the work that he performed for a living. This pride was evident in the fact that he had a great degree of pride in his work.
This was demonstrated by the fact that he delighted in performing all three activities at the same time. On the right side of this picture is Al Tourond, who was the driver of the #2 DMS vehicle. On the left side of the picture is George Irwin, who was the crew chief for the same car. This picture was taken at the Daytona International Speedway.
During this time of continued mourning over the loss of George, we want you to know that you and the rest of your family, including Kim and Ken, are in our thoughts and prayers. We are sorry for the loss that you are experiencing.
Additionally, the rest of your family is in our thoughts and prayers at this time. Even while we are certain that George is looking down on all of us working at DMS from above and giving us all a warm smile, we shall still miss him very dearly. He was well-liked and respected by everyone in our town. The legacy that George left behind will live on in our thoughts and memories always and for all time.
