George Crider Obituary, Death – George Elliott Crider, who was 88 years old at the time of his death on January 15, 2023, was a resident of Saint Matthews, South Carolina. He was Mary Smith Crider’s husband for more than 68 years before they divorced. On Friday, the 20th of January, at 2:00 p.m., a memorial service will be held at the Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church, which is located at 210 Andrew Chapel Road in Swansea, South Carolina. The Reverend Karl Coke will serve as the event’s master of ceremonies. The fellowship hall of the church will be utilized immediately following the service in order to host a reception for the surviving family members and friends of the individual who passed away.

George Crider was born to parents Elliott Stokes Crider and Edna Mary Stabler Crider in the city of Orangeburg in the state of South Carolina. Since then, both of his parents have passed away. After thirty years of service as a maintenance supervisor at Albemarle, he took early retirement from the company. He had spent his entire life as a member of Andrew Chapel and was an active volunteer who was instrumental in the founding of the Caw Caw Fire Department. George valued the time he spent with his family and friends, as well as the time he spent participating in activities such as hunting, fishing, and farming. In addition to that, he did his military service in the South Carolina National Guard.

He is survived by his children, Julia C. Layton (Mike), Elizabeth Crider, Forrest “Woody” Crider, and Michael Crider (Brandie), as well as 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a treasured cousin, Jeanette Stabler Poole; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
