Florence Kalmakoff Obituary, Death – On Monday, January 9, 2023, shortly after 10 o’clock in the evening, members of Florence Kalmakoff’s family gathered at Hardy View Lodge to share the sad news that she had passed away. Florence Kalmakoff had been a resident of Grand Forks, British Columbia. They share this news with a heavy heart and a lot of affection, despite the fact that it is difficult for them. She had a total of 88 years of experience under her belt.
The members of Florence’s family who are still alive are her son Jim, her daughters Kathy (Michael), Laurie (Tony), and Donna (Mark), and her son Jim. They will all miss her very much. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Kearra, Eva, Ellie, and Maxcine, of whom she was extremely proud. Her grandchildren Chelsea (Will), Kevin (Ashley), Matthew (Elena), Nicholas (Brittney), and Troy (Ashlyn) also survive her. It is imperative that the name of her cat, Genie, not be forgotten.
Florence and her late husband Alex had both been USCC members for their entire lives. Both of them passed away in the same year. Florence was recognized during the 2019 Annual General Meeting for the significant contributions she had made to our organization as well as the dedication she had shown to it over the course of her involvement with it. She was also a “force” in our kitchen, and we all had a wonderful time in each other’s company while she was there because she made the atmosphere so lively. A kind and generous soul who always made sure to extend a cordial greeting and a cheerful smile to whoever she happened to come into contact with. We are going to miss having her here with us.
Anyone who knew Florence is cordially invited to a traditional Doukhobor funeral service that will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the Grand Forks USCC Community Centre beginning at 10:00 a.m. The family would like to extend this invitation to anyone who knew Florence. The interment will take place at Sion Cemetery, and immediately following that, there will be a luncheon held in her honor.
