Mr. V.N. “Pete” Booker was the founder of the Booker Funeral Home, which is located at its current site. In 1945, “Pete” and his son Harry were the first owners of the house that is now located at 325 West Cedar Street. Harry was the proprietor of the funeral home and the person in charge of its operations up until the year 1980, when he passed away. In September of 1995, the Gilbert Family was able to secure ownership of the funeral home and eventually purchased it.
Between the years 1996 and 1997, the funeral home was given the new name of the Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home after undergoing an extensive amount of remodeling and modernisation during that time period. This was done in order to provide the general public with a simpler means of entering and navigating the establishment. 2016 and 2017 were spent on modifications to the exterior of the funeral home, and in 2017 the business was renamed the Gilbert Funeral Home of Franklin, Kentucky.
