David Steck Obituary, Death – David McCloy Steck died in Columbia on December 9, 2021. John Morris Steck and Mary Hunter McCloy raised him in Fredericksburg, Virginia. In 1950, he earned a business degree from William and Mary. Mr. Steck joined the Army and was discharged as a first lieutenant. Mr. Steck started at JC Penny. He retired after 25 years to launch Alpine Sales, Inc. His leadership grew the wholesale countertop and cabinet supply industry. David, a voracious reader, and a lifelong student earned many medals at local club competitions. Mr. Steck will be missed by many.
Frances Graube Steck died first. Michael Steck (Amanda), Richard Steck, and Stephen Steck (Kappy) are his sons. His grandchildren include Kathryn Steck Foote (Matthew), Great Grandchild Madison Rose Foote, Charles Michael Steck, Michael Eugene Steck, Nicole Steck Styron (Travis), Andrea Steck Anclade (Brian), Robert Trace Cannon, and Adelaide Grace Cannon. Great-grandchildren Andrea and Brian Anclade are expected any day.
Mr. Steck’s funeral will be placed at Trenholm Road Chapel on December 12 at 3 p.m. Before the 2 p.m. ceremony, the family will meet visitors. Private interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park before the funeral. McCloy/Steck
