Dale Thurman Obituary, Death – It is with deep sorrow that we have to inform you of the demise of longtime GAAF member Dale Thurman. Our hearts are filled with sadness at the news of his demise. This is an announcement that is difficult for us to make, and we apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. Dale had been in charge of administering the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds and, by extension, the yearly county fair for the previous 27 years.
In this role, he was also responsible for organizing the fair. Prior to that, he oversaw the annual Georgia Mountain Fair at Hiawassee, which was held in the town of Hiawassee. In recognition of the substantial contributions that Dale made to the GAAF over the course of its history, the Fairman of the Year award was bestowed upon him in the year 1994.
The fact that you are remembering him and others who were dear to him in your thoughts and prayers is something that is extremely appreciated; he will be sorely missed. Yesterday, we were all saddened to hear of the passing of Dale Thurman, who had been a personal friend of the Chattahoochee club for a number of years and had served as manager of the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds for a number of those years. Mr. Thurman’s passing was a source of sadness for all of us.
Dale recently handed in his resignation from his role as manager of the Fairgrounds, a role he has held for more than twenty years. He was always kind, professional, and accommodating, on top of being a decent man in general. In addition, he was a decent man. Additionally, he was really accommodating. All of us are going to miss him very, very much. Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your loved one, Dale, and extend them to Dale’s wife and the rest of his family.
