Craig Anderson Obituary, Dodge Center, Minnesota, Craig Anderson Has Passed Away

Craig Anderson Obituary, Death – Craig Anderson of Dodge Center, Minnesota has unexpectedly passed away. On February 22, Carroll and Irene Anderson welcomed Craig Anderson into the world. He graduated from South Hamilton High School in 1969 and attended UNI and Iowa Central Community College to “learn” and play football. He graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Industrial Administration in 1974. On May 21, 1977, he married Sylvia Posegate.

Craig worked full-time at Westside Fruit and Grocery, where he learned how to chop meat. He was also in charge of Safeway’s meat section. He was a successful businessman who owned Protein Foods in Gilbert as well as Anderson’s Meat & Grocery in Roland and Jewell. He continued to use his meat-cutting expertise and offer business advice after selling the Jewell store. He will leave in July 2021. Despite the fact that being an independent grocer took a large amount of time, he always made time to attend the activities of his daughters and, more recently, his grandchildren. From the bleachers, he witnessed many volleyball, softball, basketball, track, football, and soccer games.

He attended several band and voice concerts, as well as musicals. His UNI music appreciation class was quite beneficial. He served Salem Lutheran Church as Chair, Vice-Chair, and Trustee on various occasions. He also served on the Roland-Story School Board for six years. He used to play fast pitch softball before switching to slow pitch. He liked to play golf when he wasn’t at the grocery store. He enjoyed playing on a variety of courses throughout Iowa, but his favorite was the local Jewell course, which he enjoyed playing with family and friends.

His parents, in-laws Lowell, Elaine, and Keith Posegate, and grand nephew Matthew Anderson all predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, daughters Jessica (Bryan) Hrnicek, Shelley (Jason) Lee, Natalie (Kyle) Garin; grandchildren Payton, Caytlin, Reese and Easton Lee; Aiden, Bryce and Carsten Hrnicek; and Adeline and Amaya Garin; brothers Gary (Dee) Anderson; James (Ann) Anderson; John (Lori) Anderson; and sister Vicki (Jim) Breson. He also leaves behind an aunt and various nieces and nephews.
