Chris Stolte Obituary, Death – Christopher Gerald Stolte died unexpectedly at his home in Grand Bend on Friday, January 6, 2023. He had 58 years of experience. His family would like to express their heartfelt condolences to everyone who knew and loved him during their lives. Cheryl Cook’s adored husband and the guy she regards as her best friend in the entire world. a much-loved and regarded son of Evelyn Mutis and the late Gerald Stolte (1997). Beloved brother of Charles Stolte (Linda), Peter Stolte (Karen), Ann-Marie Urquhart, John Stolte (Robin), Michael Fitzgerald (Rosanne), Anne-Marie Fitzgerald, Theresa Fitzgerald, and the late Paul Fitzgerald (2015), and son-in-law to Steven Cook (Tanya) and Darren Cook (Sherri).
His sister-in-law also survives (late Dianne). He is survived by a large number of nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom will be saddened by his death. Chris served as a paramedic for the majority of his adult life, the majority of which he spent at Lambton EMS Station 9 in Grand Bend, Ontario. Chris’s job lasted his entire adult life. He was a respected and devoted member of SEIU Healthcare, where he served as Chief Union Stewart at the time of his death. In this capacity, he assisted his paramedic colleagues in fostering workplace harmony.
Chris was also an advocate for greater support services for front-line emergency responders suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, and he sat on a number of boards, including the Inaugural Paramedic Monument in Toronto. This was one of the first monuments of its kind in Canada. Visitation will begin at 12 o’clock noon on the day of the memorial ceremony and will continue until the start of the funeral at 1 o’clock.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. The service will be place at the Gilpin Funeral Chapel in Forest. A walkthrough visitation will be conducted in the morning between 11 and 12 a.m. by paramedics dressed in full gear and supported by an honor guard. The Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Ontario Paramedic Association are both worthy beneficiaries of memorial gifts donated in Chris’s honor. Chris had a strong personal attachment to each of these organizations.
