Brian Carpenter Obituary Scituate, RI, Owner of Long Realty and Insurance Co. has died

Brian Carpenter Obituary, Death – Brian E. Carpenter, 69, went suddenly from an unanticipated illness on January 8, 2023. He was The Reverend Susan (Morrison) Carpenter’s loving husband for 47 years. He was born in Putnam, Connecticut. His parents, Edward R. Carpenter and Ellen C. (Gunderson) have passed away. Before moving to Bristol in August 2022, Brian lived in North Scituate for a considerable period of time. Since 1976, Mr. Carpenter has been the owner of Long Realty and Insurance Co., Inc. in North Scituate.

Since turning 18, he has had a real estate license. In addition to his skill in rural real estate, Brian was well renowned for his familiarity with the towns in which he worked. In 1975, he graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor’s degree, and in 1983, Bryant College awarded him an MBA. Brian, a stalwart member of the Scituate Lions Club, held the position of treasurer for the group. He received the Melvin Jones Award. For his efforts as the Hamilton Chapter of the Order of DeMolay’s Master Counselor, he was awarded the Chevalier Degree.

Brian was actively involved in a number of Episcopal churches. He held the positions of Jr. Warden and Treasurer at Trinity Episcopal Church in North Scituate, which was his native church. He frequently offered aid at the many churches where his wife worked. He was intelligent and typically grinned at everyone he met. At the Foster and Country View Country Clubs, he participated in league play and played golf frequently. Traveling around the world was nothing new for Brian and Susan. On their most recent trip, they went to Bermuda to celebrate their anniversary with their family, which made it even more memorable.

Along with his wife Susan, he is survived by his sons Scott A. Carpenter of Bristol and Peter J. Carpenter and his wife Bethany, both of Bristol. Joshua E. Carpenter and Nathan B. Carpenter both had him as a grandparent. Russell M. Carpenter, Brian’s brother, died before him. On Friday, January 13, 2023, from 3 to 7 p.m., family and guests are welcome to make a visit to the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel at 643 Putnam Pike in Greenville.

On January 14, 2023, at 11 a.m., a Requiem Eucharist Service will be placed at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 399 Hope St., Bristol, RI 02809. The funeral will be subdued.
