Bonnie Barrett Obituary, Death – The Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office is now conducting an investigation into a two-car collision that took place on Sunday afternoon and resulted in the death of a 60-year-old lady from Ithaca. The event took place in Gratiot County and included both vehicles. The crash occurred in Gratiot County, Michigan. The statements provided by Gratiot County Sheriff Mike Morris indicate that the incident took place on January 8 at approximately 3:13 p.m. on US 127 in Pine River Township, near the area where Madison Road can be found.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a girl from Shepherd, Pennsylvania, who was 16 years old, was driving northbound when she crossed the median and collided head-on with a car that was traveling south.
The investigation also determined that the girl had been driving northbound when the crash occurred. It was determined that the girl had passed away at the scene. After the collision, the driver of the vehicle that was moving in the southbound lane, Ithaca resident Scott Barrett, who was 66 years old, and his wife, Bonnie Barrett, who also incurred significant injuries, were both brought to the Michigan Medical Center in Alma. Bonnie Barrett’s wounds ultimately proved fatal, and she was unable to make a full recovery from them before she passed away. In addition, the Shepherd girl was taken to the hospital in Alma in order to receive care for her injuries, the kind which has not been disclosed to the general public.
According to Morris, there is still an ongoing investigation into what caused the crash; however, at the time of the incident, all of the occupants were wearing their seat belts correctly, and thus no one was injured. The Alma Fire and Rescue Department as well as the accident reconstruction team from the Michigan State Police offered help for the Sheriff’s Office when they were present. This assistance was supplied throughout the period that they were present.
