Bob Donaldson Obituary – Donaldson, who was found to be unwell on Friday at his home, passed away unexpectedly. In Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, his parents were George Donaldson and Beatrice (Willis) Donaldson. He was their son. After receiving his diploma from Cambridge Springs High School in 1987, Robert continued his education at Edinboro University, where he earned a degree in criminology three years later in 1991.

He was a veteran of the United States National Guard, having served for 25 years before retiring as a major in the organization in 2011. He served with the Pennsylvania State Police for the entirety of his 25-year career and retired with the rank of sergeant in March of 2017. The Butler Area School District was fortunate to have him on staff as a security guard at the time.

In addition to his biological parents, he is survived by his wife, Paula (Helgert) Donaldson of Butler, whom he wed on September 3, 1994; two daughters, Kayla Donaldson and Taylor Donaldson, both of Butler; a sister, Barbara (Dennis) Fetterman and their daughter, Adrionna, of Punxsutawney; his mother-in-law, Margaret Helgert of Butler; a brother-in-law, Chad Helger His father-in-law, Paul Helgert, passed away before him. He was the one who died first.

DONALDSON – The funeral ceremony for Robert James Donaldson, who passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019, will be held at the Community Alliance Church in Butler on Tuesday at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon. The address of the church is 800 Mercer Road. On Tuesday, the church will be open for visitation beginning at 4 p.m. and continuing until the time of the service at 8 p.m., which will be officiated by Pastor Denny Krajacic.

There will be a presentation of military honors made by Post 249 of the VFW, Post 778 of the American Legion, and Post 117 of the Butler Legion. The Young Funeral Home in Butler is in charge of making the necessary arrangements. The burial will be carried out in secret.
