Barbara Brooks Obituary, Death – Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Brooks, 89 years old at the time of her death, was brought to the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky on January 17, 2023. She lived in the Indiana town of Charlestown. She was born in Louisville on September 27, 1933, to Sylvester Grote and Mary Catherine Hayes Grote. Her parents have only one child. She had previously worked as a medical assistant and then resigned from the field, in addition to being a member of the Red Hat Society, the United States Navy Reserves, and the First Baptist Church in Charlestown.
She was also a member of the military. Her favorite activities included attending church, dining at Cracker Barrel and Kingfish, taking Tobey Tours, “camping” with her friends, and watching Little House on the Prairie. She also liked going on Tobey Tours. Bobbie’s parents, husband, Harold Brooks, daughter, Kimberly Brooks, and siblings Michael Grote, Joyce Mooreland, Vickie Hoover, and Janet Bayens all left before she did. Amy Baird, who is married to Matt, Jerry Brooks, who is married to Carmen, and Jeffrey Brooks, who is married to Elizabeth are her surviving children. Her entire family resides in Charlestown.
Bobbie is also survived by her siblings Dave Grote of Florida, Shirley Schuetz of Florida, Marilyn Dunn of Ohio, Jackie Peay of Pennsylvania, Mary Jane Fletcher of Charlestown, and Patty Hartman of Kentucky; her grandchildren Sara Whitmer, Zac Brooks, Brett Brooks, Megan Brooks, and Kaylin Swin; and her great-grandchildren. A Life Celebration Service will be held at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown on Monday at 11:00 a.m. The funeral will be held at the Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, and will resume on Monday at 9:00 a.m. The body will be visited until it is interred.
