Anton Walkes Obituary, Death – Anton Charles Walkes was an English professional footballer who played as a defender and a midfielder. He was born on February 8, 1997, and died on January 19, 2023. Walkes kicked off his club career with Tottenham Hotspur, a club that competes in the Premier League. He made his debut with Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup. In 2017, he spent some time playing for Atlanta United on loan.
The duration of his loan was extended through the end of the 2017 campaign in August. After that, Walkes was given to the League One club Portsmouth on loan, where he spent the rest of the 2017–18 season before being permanently signed by Portsmouth in July of 2018.
He remained with Portsmouth for a total of two more seasons before making his way back to Atlanta United in January 2020. In 2022, he was signed by Charlotte FC, and he remained with the team until the year after his death when he passed away.
His club, the American side Charlotte FC, confirmed his death in a tweet on Thursday afternoon and said it was “devastated” by the news. His passing was announced in the United States. According to reports from the Miami Herald, Walkes passed away due to an accident involving a boat in Miami.
The player graduated from Spurs’ youth academy and played for the club once in the League Cup; however, he was never selected for Spurs’ first team in the Premier League. In addition to playing for them, he also played for Portsmouth and Atlanta United.
